Job Overview

VCA Animal Referral & Emergency Centre in Calgary seeks a residency‑trained or board‑certified Criticalist (permanent, full‑time) to join our Critical Care Department.

Responsibilities

• Lead critical inpatient care and manage ER triage cases.
• Provide primary management and mentorship to the Emergency department and interns.
• Teach and mentor interns, technicians, and support staff.
• Support the growth and advancement of the Critical Care Department.

Qualifications

• Valid DVM degree or equivalent to practice in Canada.
• Board‑certified (AVCECC or ECVECC) or residency trained in Critical Care, eligible for board examination.
• License in Alberta or eligibility to obtain one with the ABVMA.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
• Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills.
• Exceptional client service, organizational and stress‑management ability.
