Shellfish Technician (Vibrio Monitoring)
The Department of Marine Resources (DMR) Biotoxin and Water Quality Monitoring Program monitors shellfish and water samples along the coast of Maine. Weekly shellfish samples will be collected and analyzed for bacterial pathogens. The results will be used to gather background data within the state which will aid in regulating the harvest of shellfish for public health.
One full‑time seasonal position is needed to collect, transport, and process shellfish collected throughout the coast. The position contracts at the Maine Department of Marine Resources and is based out of the Boothbay Harbor facility.
Shellfish will be processed for vibrio culturing and identification.
