Overview

The Department of Wood Science seeks a part‑time sessional lecturer for WOOD384 (3‑credit course) during Term1 (September1–December30,2026). The course focuses on wood sawing and drying, covering timber kiln design and operation, types of dry kilns, heat, relative humidity, air circulation, lumber stack configuration, drying schedules, defects, strategies to optimize drying, non‑conventional timber dryers, and kiln maintenance problems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver core lectures and lead laboratory sessions.
  • Carry out exams, mark homework and lab reports, and supervise teaching assistants.
  • Maintain office hours for student support.
  • Ensure safe operation of the experimental kiln in the Wood Fluids and Thermal Treatments laboratory.
