As the provincial ambulance service provider, our dispatchers respond to medical calls through the 911 system, sending help within seconds. Our paramedics take over from there, responding to approximately 130,000 calls per year and transporting patients to hospitals by ambulance. Each year, our specialized air ambulance crew transfers hundreds of critically ill and injured patients to specialized medical centres around the Maritimes and beyond. Our paramedics provide medical support to patients on scene and en route to hospitals. Given the unpredictability of clinical presentations in the field, they are skilled in emergency techniques and well‑versed in various medical treatments. First on scene in times of crisis, they don’t leave until the job’s done.
