The American Phytopathological Society (APS)
Postdoctoral Researcher in Soybean Pathology
Job Description
Overview
The Cassone lab is seeking a self‑driven and ambitious Postdoctoral Researcher to develop diagnostic tools for Phytophthora sojae. Phytophthora root rot (PRR) is the most economically important disease of soybean in Manitoba, Canada. As there is no foliar chemical control, PRR management relies on diagnostic tools that detect the pathogen and discriminate pathotypes. Current diagnostics are not suitable for large‑scale use and are too time‑consuming to inform on control measures. The successful applicant will develop early detection and field‑based diagnostics to overcome these limitations and improve PRR management in Manitoba.
