Legal Counsel - OOS

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Legal Services, the position of Legal Counsel will be required to assist in the provision of legal, strategic and business advice and assessment of risk. In a complex and fast paced environment this position is responsible for providing legal advice and support to the Chief of Police, Executive, all members of the Regina Police Service, as well as the Board of Police Commissioners for the City of Regina, in the discharge of their duties, as directed and under the supervision of the Executive Director of Legal Services.

Responsibilities

Draft, negotiate, and review legal contracts and memoranda of understanding.

Provide legal opinions, advice, and support for inquiries and requests on a wide variety of legal issues within many areas of law including criminal law, human rights law, labour and employment law, access to information and privacy law, constitutional law, police powers, tort law, etc.
