Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos)

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Burnaby, BC . No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures.
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system.
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
