Project Background
The Paris Agreement on climate change came into force in 2016. Among its objectives are keeping the increase in the global average temperature well below 2°C above pre‑industrial levels, with efforts to limit it to 1.5°C, as well as increasing the capacity to adapt to the adverse effects of climate change and strengthening resilience.
Climate change represents one of the main threats to sustainable development, with increasingly evident impacts at the global, regional, and local levels.
