Job Description
About the Position
A Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) is a federal law enforcement officer who protects U.S. borders, deters illicit activity, and facilitates legitimate trade and travel.
Responsibilities
- Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
- Facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
- Conduct inspections of individuals, conveyances, and goods.
- Determine admissibility of individuals entering the United States.
- Prevent illegal entry and smuggling of prohibited goods, including illegal drugs and other contraband.
Salary and Incentives
Annual base salary ranges from $40,332 to $109,952 depending on grade and location, with an additional locality pay adjustment. Newly appointed officers may receive up to a $15,000 incentive per year for a three‑year (or four‑year for some locations) service contract in selected duty locations.
