Buyer - Steel Commodity (Machining & Castings)

Job Summary

This role is responsible for the continuous improvement of purchasing strategies contributing to corporate profitability and operational success. Striving for cost improvements while maintaining high quality and on time delivery. Focus will be on assigned commodities supporting current production and/or new product development needs.

Responsibilities

• Experience in steel commodity: weldments, machining, fabrication.
• Develop and/or assist with developing supply chain strategies to achieve cost reduction goals; work closely with engineers and suppliers to create opportunities for cost improvements.
• Mitigate price increases and find an alternate supply base.
• Design tenders, communicate with suppliers, analyse formal bids, and make recommendations on awarding business.
• Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions.
